Before using new CANON battery for DM-MV20 for the first time you must charge it full. Please note that for new rechargeable CANON camcorder batteries, it is necessary to cycle them at least three times or more before they reach peak performance and capacity. Using DM-MV20 CANON battery for the first several times, you may find that they run down (discharge) quickly during using. Don't worry, this is normal until the batteries actually form up. No memory effect. Rechargeable even if it has not been used up yet.
It is important to condition (full discharge and then full charge) DM-MV20 battery every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the camcorder battery's life (this does not apply to Li-Ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run the device under the camcorder battery's power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user's manual.
If the CANON DM-MV20 battery is not in use for a month or longer, recommend to remove it from the device and store in a cool, dry, clean place.
