Xiaomi has introduced a new smartwatch designed specifically for children, called the Xiaomi Kids Watch. Priced at 1,399 yuan (around $200), it will go on sale starting January 27 and is available in two colors: Star River Blue and Nebula Purple. The device focuses on safety, communication, and ease of use.
The watch features a unique eight-sided frame with a flip-up camera module, allowing children to switch easily between the front and rear cameras. The front includes a 5 MP camera for selfies and video calls, while the rear houses an 8 MP camera for capturing everyday moments. Animated visual effects are also built in to make interactions more engaging.
It comes with a 1.75-inch AMOLED display at a resolution of 390 × 450 pixels, paired with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. The 740 mAh battery supports fast charging, reaching 50% in about 30 minutes, and is designed to last a full day, with a long-battery mode available for extended use. The watch also offers water resistance up to 20 meters.

For tracking and safety, the device supports GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS, along with AI-powered floor-level positioning that can identify the specific floor inside buildings. Additional features include geofencing, school arrival notifications, location history, and one-touch SOS calling.
Communication options include voice and video calls, voice messages, and child-friendly versions of WeChat and QQ. NFC is included for transit cards, access control, and compatible smart door locks, while integration with Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem is enabled through the Xiao Ai voice assistant.
Health and activity tracking cover heart rate and mood monitoring, as well as 18 sports modes designed for K–12 students. The watch can also send alerts when a child enters water-prone areas.
To ensure reliability and safety, Xiaomi subjected the device to more than 170 quality and durability tests. It also features local data encryption, secure cloud transmission, and privacy-focused controls.
