Sunmi V2 vs Sunmi V2 mPro: Which Handheld POS Terminal Is Better for Your Business?

Posted on March 16, 2026

Choosing the right handheld POS device often comes down to balancing cost, performance, and usability. In Sunmi’s lineup, the Sunmi V2 and Sunmi V2 mPro target similar retail and service environments but are designed for slightly different needs.

Both devices combine mobile payment processing, barcode scanning, and receipt printing in a compact handheld terminal. However, the V2 focuses on affordability and basic functionality, while the V2 mPro offers upgraded hardware and a more capable user experience.

Sunmi V2: Practical Entry-Level POS

The Sunmi V2 is positioned as a practical handheld POS terminal for everyday operations in retail stores, restaurants, and small service businesses.

It features a 5.45-inch HD+ display, which is large enough for order management, payment processing, and receipt review. Typical configurations start with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which is sufficient for running basic POS applications.

The device also includes a built-in 58mm thermal printer with a print speed of around 70 mm per second. This allows staff to quickly print receipts without needing an external printer, making the system convenient for mobile checkout or table-side service.

Because of its simpler configuration, the V2 is well suited for small and medium-sized businesses that require reliable order taking and receipt printing without advanced hardware requirements.

Sunmi V2 mPro: Enhanced Performance

The Sunmi V2 mPro is designed for businesses that need stronger performance and more advanced functionality.

One noticeable upgrade is the larger 5.99-inch HD+ display, which provides better visibility for staff during busy operations. The larger screen can make it easier to read menus, manage transactions, and navigate POS applications.

The V2 mPro typically comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, offering improved performance when running multiple apps or handling more complex workflows.

Another key feature is support for a 2D barcode scanning engine. This allows the device to scan QR codes, product labels, and digital payment codes more efficiently.

Like the standard V2, the mPro model also includes an integrated 58mm thermal printer, maintaining the convenience of on-the-spot receipt printing.

Differences in Daily Use

In everyday operations, the differences between the two devices become more noticeable.

The Sunmi V2 works well for businesses that mainly perform basic transactions, such as order taking, printing receipts, and simple mobile payments.

The Sunmi V2 mPro, on the other hand, is better suited for higher-volume environments or businesses that rely heavily on QR payments, barcode scanning, and multiple POS applications.

The larger display and upgraded hardware help create a smoother experience for staff, particularly in fast-paced retail or food-service settings.
