Gigabyte S1080 Tablet PC Overview: Portable Windows Device with Rich Ports and HDD Storage

Posted on March 18, 2026

The Gigabyte S1080 Tablet PC series was designed as a Windows-based slate for users who wanted portability without sacrificing the familiarity of a traditional PC. Unlike many consumer tablets of its time, it focused on productivity, software compatibility, and practical connectivity.

It shipped with Windows 7 Home Premium, allowing users to run standard desktop applications in a familiar environment. This made it particularly appealing for business and office use.

At its core, the S1080 featured an Intel Atom N570 dual-core processor running at 1.66 GHz, paired with the Intel NM10 Express chipset. It supported DDR3 memory via a single SO-DIMM slot, with a maximum capacity of 2 GB.

While the hardware was modest, it was sufficient for everyday tasks such as web browsing, document editing, presentations, and light multimedia work. This aligned well with its business-oriented positioning.

The device came with a 10.1-inch capacitive multi-touch display, offering a resolution of 1024 × 600 and LED backlighting. The screen was suitable for presentations, media viewing, and general touch interaction.

To improve usability on Windows, Gigabyte added practical controls beyond touch. These included touch hot keys, an optical finger navigation button, and dedicated left and right mouse buttons, providing more precise input when needed.

Storage was a notable strength for the S1080. Depending on the configuration, it included a 250 GB or 320 GB 2.5-inch SATA hard drive, with many models featuring 320 GB at 5400 rpm.

This generous storage capacity made it more practical than many early tablets, especially for users managing large files, documents, or media libraries.

Connectivity was another key advantage. The tablet offered a wide range of ports, including USB, VGA output, Ethernet, audio jacks, an SD card reader, and DC-in.

Additional features such as docking and extended battery connectors enhanced its flexibility. Some configurations also included a SIM card slot for 3.5G connectivity, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 support.

Despite its functionality, the S1080 remained relatively portable, weighing around 895 grams with a 2-cell battery. This balance of mobility and connectivity reinforced its role as a business-friendly tablet.

Overall, the Gigabyte S1080 Tablet PC series stood out by blending tablet convenience with the structure of a compact Windows PC. While not built for heavy computing, it delivered strong practical value through its ports, storage capacity, and compatibility with desktop software.
